Tick Tock

I saw this quote today and felt like it was the perfect fit!

I want to look back on my life and know that I lived it to the fullest. Sharing time with my family, experiencing new countries and cultures, continuously learning and teaching, and finding the joy in everyday life should all be part of those 86,400 seconds. Every day with my family is a success; every day that I learn something new is a success; every day is a success.

“The purpose of life, after all, is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experiences.”

– Eleanor Roosevelt

What will you do with your more than 80,000 seconds today? I’m going to try and make the most of every second. If you do the same, let me know how it goes. I’ll happily include part of your day with a link to your blog if you come up with some great things to do today. Let’s see what readers can come up with. Have a great day!

  1. Love your posts! We try to live every day to the fullest with our family and our farm animals. It’s truly a blessing to have what we have even when times are tough. Enjoy!

  2. Awesome quote! Thanks for sharing!! Today, even though it was supposed to rain, we drove two hours to go ziplining and hiking. It was a great day to do both, despite the few minutes that it did actually rain. We ziplined within a high ropes obstacle course and then went on a three mile hike.

What a great way to celebrate today!! =)

  4. My 86000 seconds were spent on a morning trip to the market with my husband, then on a tour of Berwick NS. We met up with family for lunch, then drove to a winery. On the way home we stopped in at a random country dinner in Greenwood, then back to Blomidon to see a play. We finished the day with a camp fire and star gazing. It was an excellent use of seconds.
    Thanks for the inspiration!

  5. I love this post! There is something about breathing, and being aware of your inhale and exhale that makes how we choose to live those seconds of our day meaningful. But not just our own breaths, but also those of the ones we love. When I lay my head on my husbands chest, I am content to just hear his lungs fill and then empty of air. Since my children were born, the intimate privilege of watching them sleep, and watching their chests rise and fall, with the breath of life, makes my every second valuable. Each breath we have be given is a gift, and recognizing it’s value (and for me, who gives that breath) makes me want to spend my seconds wisely.

  6. I went to a friend’s birthday party; she was turning 42 which in Douglas Adams’s “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” books, is the number that answers the question “What is the meaning of life, the universe, and everything?” In the books, seasoned travelers know that you always need to keep your towel with you, so we did; we celebrated with most of us wearing towels over our shoulders like dupattas (the scarf that complements shalwar kameez).

May not sound like much, but it was a real departure from how I usually spend my time, and I met a whole lot of new people (and had fun!).

  7. I have spent most of today learning a lot and interacting with my social media. Speaking to Twitter fans, joining LinkedIn discussions and reading articles.

I think your post is great. I like to live life to the max too, as every moment in life is precious and you can never get it back.

  8. Wonderful post! It made me pause and re evaluate how I spend my time; if it’s about myself or could I spend more time thinking about others outside my sphere. Thank you.

  9. Today was for me anyways, a very unique day…you see I work for a large movie theatre company as an IMAX projection manager and today I had the privilage of test screening The Dark Knight Rises. I only used up 9,900 seconds but they were worth every moment of my time lol! Oh by the way the film is epic a must see for the summer! Cheers : )

  10. Not every moment of the day should be spent feeling stressed and busy. Global Journey thinks people should take some time out of their day to relax and take stock of their life and the world whilst listening to relaxation music! It can make all the difference in improving your mental and physical health and well-being 🙂
