Beaver Creek Lodge, despite its name, is anything but an ordinary mountain lodge. Located at the base of Beaver Creek Mountain in Colorado’s Vail Valley, this sprawling, 72-one-bedroom-suite property is known for its contemporary take on a traditional mountain resort. With endless amenities and a central location in the Beaver Creek Village, staying at Beaver Creek Lodge is not exactly roughing it. After only three days at the resort, I feel in love. I actually discuss the possibility of living in Colorado in the near future with my family because it has so much to offer.
Beaver Creek Lodge ultimately creates an air of luxury at its finest. The alluring lobby immersed my senses with deep fiery hues, a crackling fireplace, plush comfort, and the scent of handcrafted wood furnishings. The surrounding artwork was the pièce de résistance, featuring work by local, regional, world-renowned and Kessler Signature artists. From paintings and sculptures, to handbags and jewelry, the Kessler collection was visually stimulating and awe-inspiring.
We were given the opportunity to explore our artistic side with an “Appetizing Art” evening. I participated in a locally inspired dinner and artist demonstration in the Grand Behemian Gallery of the hotel. Between courses at dinner, we were given elaborate hands-on instructions on how to create a painting. The music moved my brush across the canvas and I created a wine piece that I’m rather proud to say is mine. It was a fun, interactive, creative way to spend the evening and I consider it taking a class, which was on this year’s bucket list.
My suite was furnished with a gas fireplace, a leather sofa and chair, and a kitchenette. The animal-print pillow-topped bed, faux-fur throw, and massive leather headboard in the bedroom were almost too perfect to mess up, which added to the fun of trying. At most resorts, I put the sign on the door saying that I don’t need the room made up, but I lived luxuriously at Beaver Creek Lodge. I took pride in ruffling the sheets and moving the pillows. The bedroom door closed for privacy and the lined curtains blocked out the light of day so I could sleep in. I sleep like a baby in comfort fit for a queen.
The hotel’s restaurant, Rocks Modern Grill, provided a rich ambiance with dim lighting and luxe décor. Although the evenings were cool, outdoor dining was still possible because of surrounding fireplaces. I dined in style with the breathtaking views of Beaver Creek and the towering mountain above.
The culinary passion of the head chef, Justin Kalaluhi, was obvious through his unique creations, regionally inspired menus, and eclectic world specialties. My favorite dish was the Extra Virgin Olive Oil Poached Striped Bass with Fine Herb Risotto. It was a duo plate coupled with Seared Lamb Loin in a Sweet Pea Puree. If I ever become an excessive millionaire, I am hiring Justin to be my full-time chef. I was hesitant to share his name because I want to keep him for myself.
If you think this all sounds too good to be true, the convenience doesn’t end there. The lodge also offers a heated indoor/outdoor pool and a hot tub, a large gym, and the Grand Bohemian Art Gallery.
The hotel is connected to the slopes via escalator. Within only a few minutes, I was at the Centennial Lift and ready to access the mountain vistas above. The Summer Adventure Center offers lift access, hiking options, 4×4 adventure tours, bike rentals, a hikeology program, and gem panning. Regardless of the time of year, there is access to the beautiful Beaver Creek Mountain. My mouth was agape during the entire 2.5 hour Family Fun Hike. My senses were heightened by the views of the flowing creek, the sounds of rustling Aspen leaves, and the fresh-air smell of nature all around.
The vibrant village surrounding the lodge features a world-class section of shops, galleries and restaurants, entertainment and nightlife, an ice skating rink, Spa Struck and Allegria Spa, hiking, prestigious golf courses, and a tennis club. I didn’t have enough time to take advantage of it all but another trip in the near future should take care of that.
The amenities and style are endless. Beaver Creek Lodge is luxurious and charming with all the comforts of home. With spectacular views both inside and out, it’s virtually flawless.
