With a 100 foot virtual vertical drop water slide and a skybox drop capsule, we decided that Magic Mountain Waterpark in Moncton, New Brunswick was the perfect place for the “big kids” to spend the day. Athena and Nanny had some quality alone time while Darren and I joined our brothers and sister for a day of fun at Magic Mountain. Continue reading
Finding family-friendly destinations that offer something for everyone is difficult. Someone always has to compromise. But at Bennett Lake in Fundy National Park, New Brunswick, there is something for everyone. Kayaking, canoeing and paddle boating, hiking trails, swimming, and barbecuing are part of the experience at Bennett Lake. My in-laws, Darren, Athena, and I all found something fun to do today at the lake. Continue reading
Magnetic Hill Zoo has more than 400 animals, including over 100 indigenous and exotic species. Birds, mammals, insects, reptiles, and fish find a comfortable and safe home in the 40-acre park, but we feel in love with the animals at the petting zoo. Even Athena, who is normally shy around new animals, loved the deer, the goats, and the ducks. She was actually brave enough to feed a few animals for herself. Continue reading
The phenomenal Bay of Fundy is one of the world’s most dramatic coastlines with tides rising as much as 53 vertical feet over a 12-hour period twice each day, and Cape Enrage offers one of the most spectacular views of the natural phenomenon from its towering cliffs. It’s a bucket list sight that should be on everyone’s list, but Cape Enrage steps it up extreme bucket list style by adding the adventure aspect. Rock climbing, rappelling, and ziplining can all be done over this spectacular coastline at one location. Cape Enrage offers it all. Continue reading
When I’m standing on the edge of a cliff, I dream of rappelling down it or climbing up it. When I’m high atop a building, I envision a zipline to whisk me down to the ground. My mind is always focused on the extreme adventure; I feel most at home when my adrenaline is pumping and my heart is racing. I long for the unknown. Being at a place like Cape Enrage in New Brunswick that offers wild adventures is my idea of home. Continue reading
Situated in the center of the city, Centennial Park in Moncton, New Brunswick is a 230 acre playground for all ages. We took advantage of one of the free, sheltered picnic areas for a family reunion this evening and we couldn’t have found a better spot. At covered picnic tables, surrounded by an umbrella of trees, we enjoyed a local dream-come-true feast for any East Coaster. Continue reading
When it comes to steak, it’s undeniable that The Keg serves only the finest cuts. They are aged for tenderness. Then, a special blend of seasonings is added to lend unique flavor while still allowing the natural properties of the high quality, well-aged beef to be enjoyed to its fullest. This ensures that a tender, succulent, flavorful steak is guaranteed off the grill every time, but I often wondered if there was more than meets the “rib-eye”; is The Keg a cut above the rest in areas other than steak? Their menu not only features tender, juicy steaks, but vast appetizer choices, slow succulent chicken, and irresistible desserts. Quality, comfort, and superior service are three key ingredients that make The Keg Steakhouse & Bar experience like no other. Continue reading
Flogging Molly toured in Moncton, NB a few years ago and I had the opportunity to meet them in person. It was most definitely a bucket list dream come true.
“The sun never shines on closed doors” so I interviewed Bob Schmidt on the Flogging Molly tour bus before “floating” off to the concert.
Everyone has a different version of what they’d like to accomplish, try, or experience in their life. While I enjoy extreme adventures, sports, outdoor activities and anything to do with the ocean, others like retreats, relaxing, and finding peace of mind. Sara of New Brunswick, Canada had “spend a day at the spa” as her number one bucket list item. As soon as I read her list, I knew there was at least one thing I could arrange for her. With the support of Namaste Spa, Bucket List Publications helped Sara cross an item off of her list. Continue reading
In the last few years, I’ve participated in the most extreme adventures that I could imagine. Even my wedding day included a little bit of rock climbing and a trip up the trapeze ladder to swing my way into married life. You may have a different opinion of what constitutes an extreme adventure, but I’ve narrowed it down to my top 5 extreme adventures based on sheer fear, nervousness, excitement, and potential to crap my own pants.
Trapped in the number five spot is caving or spelunking!
Imagine a world of darkness surrounded by rock and mud where exotic formations, streams and waterfalls, tight crawl-ways, deep canyons and pits, and huge rooms with large blocks of breakdown, crickets, bats, and rats await you. That’s what I experienced while caving in New Brunswick, Canada. I was taken into a world much different from that above ground and the potential for being trapped in complete darkness where unfamiliar things lurked brought shivers up my spine, finding its way into my top five adventure.
