2017 Bucket List – Coachella

Coachella

California has been a magical dreamland of wonder. When I first moved here, I had visions of beaches and palm trees but I had no idea it was such an endless world of entertainment. Sure, I was aware that it was home to movie premieres and countless celebrities, but I didn’t realize that I would attend ballets, musicals, and concerts on a regular basis. One major entertainment event that reminded on my list all this time, though,  is Coachella. The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is an annual music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. From the best people watching in the world to world class art, Coachella offers numerous experiences to enjoy along with the music. So this year, I decided it was time to cross it off my list.  Continue reading

Atabei Spa As a Couple

ATABEI SPA at Santa Barbara Beach Resort, Curacao

I never really understood a couples massage. I love getting a massage and I love spending time with Cord so I guess the two should go hand-in-hand or side-by-side, but I haven’t quite figured out why we’d go in as a couple. We had a recent couples massage at Atabei Spa at Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort and it was fantastic, but here’s my bizarre thoughts on the whole process. Continue reading

Bon Bini from Renaissance Curacao

Renaissance Curacao
It’s hard to believe we’ve already been in the Caribbean for more than two weeks and we’re at our last hotel, Renaissance Curacao, of this trip. After extreme relaxation and rest, it’s nice to be in the capital city of Curaçao. The Renaissance Curacao is in the heart of the city yet it can still feel worlds away when you want it to.  Continue reading

Pool Fun at Santa Barbara& Golf Resort

Pool fun at Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort Curacao

It’s pretty obvious at this point that I love swimming. I’m at home in the ocean, the sea, or a pool. Athena is always happiest in the pool, though, and Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort makes spending an entire day in the pool easy and fun. There’s poolside service, towels, chairs, umbrellas, and an activity center. They even provide the sunscreen. We took advantage of all the amenities at Santa Barbara Resort but we utilized the pool the most.  Continue reading

Santa Barbara Beach Resort Curacao

Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort
As part of our first international trip of 2017, we’re staying in Curacao at Santa Barbara Beach and Golf Resort, a nestled beachfront resort along the Caribbean Sea within a 2,000 acre gated plantation. We only arrived yesterday, but it’s been heaven on earth already. Here’s a quick glimpse of our first two days at Santa Barbara.  Continue reading

Open Doors at The Landing

The Landing, Door County, Wisconsin
This Christmas was a world of new for Athena and I. We decided to spend it with my partner’s family in Wisconsin. (I still haven’t found the “boyfriend” term that fits for me but I’m working on it.) It was the first time Athena and I weren’t in our own home, opening gifts from Santa and family that were placed under our Christmas tree with loving care; but home isn’t your own tree or a familiar room. It’s the people who surround you that make it home. Cord’s family has shown us an abundance of love in the last few months. They opened their homes and their hearts to Athena and I. Even though we spent Christmas day, and the two days following Christmas, at The Landing in Door County, Wisconsin, it was the most at home I felt in almost a decade.  Continue reading

A Christmas Story with a New Lesson

A Christmas Story at Sierra Repertory Theatre

It was a rainy day in Sonora while we were visiting yesterday, creating the perfect day for a theatre performance. We attended A Christmas Story at Sierra Repertory Theatre and learned a valuable lesson, but it wasn’t what you’d expect.  Continue reading
