My Favorite Calzone in LA is at Grimaldi’s

Grimaldi's Calzone
I moved up to LA county about a month ago before the big move back to Canada. Since I’m going to be here for a couple months, I figured I’d create a food bucket list and discover my favorite restaurants in the area before I leave. I found a mouth-watering cheesesteak at The Rockefeller and delicious California-inspired food at Marmalade Cafe, but I was still searching for bucketlist-worthy calzone. Italian is my favorite food and I missed my favorite calzone in OC, but I finally found the best one in LA at Grimaldi’sContinue reading

Sea Marina Del Rey with Mojo

Marina Del Rey, California
It’s no secret that I love sailing. There isn’t much that makes me happier than spending an afternoon on the ocean with my family. For the last few weeks, we’ve been living in Playa Del Rey, California and we’re within walking distance to Marina Del Rey. Watching the boats sail by brings up my happiness level tenfold but, of course, I want to be on every one of them. After looking into the sailing options from Marina Del Rey, I found Mojo Sailing. We booked an afternoon with Captain Jim and enjoyed the best part of the day from aboard Mojo.  Continue reading

Legoland Water Park the Bucket List Way

Legoland Water Park, California, USA

Legoland is our favorite park in California. We love the staff, the rides, the food, and the hotel, but we never make enough time for the water park. With so much to experience in one day, I usually feel like we need to choose between spending the whole day at the water park or the whole day in the main section. Last week, though, we found the perfect balance between the main park and the water park. Here’s how we explored Legoland Water Park the bucket list way.  Continue reading

10 Things I Want From Life

Athena and I on the beach at Hard Rock Hotel Cancun

I have no problem coming up with huge bucket list items that are so extreme they seem impossible yet I make them happen, but I lost sight of what I really want from my every day life and it leaves me feeling unfulfilled and discouraged. I’m at a cross-roads now. I will be leaving my life behind in California and starting the next chapter, but I feel more lost now than I ever did in my life. I can choose anywhere to live, I have financial security for now, and I’m healthy but my location isn’t dependent on a career and I don’t have family in one place to go home to so I decided to come up with a list of ten things that I truly want from my daily life with hopes that it will help guide my decisions on what comes next.  Continue reading

Santa Barbara Beach Resort Curacao

Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort
As part of our first international trip of 2017, we’re staying in Curacao at Santa Barbara Beach and Golf Resort, a nestled beachfront resort along the Caribbean Sea within a 2,000 acre gated plantation. We only arrived yesterday, but it’s been heaven on earth already. Here’s a quick glimpse of our first two days at Santa Barbara.  Continue reading

A Day of Testing Out Athena’s Gifts

PlayWheels Quad Skates
Since we were traveling during the holidays, we opted for the multiple Christmases. Santa’s elves delivered some of Athena’s gifts early so we could open them at home and the Big Guy delivered the rest on Christmas Day in Wisconsin. It was a great plan that worked wonderfully for us, but the only downside was that Athena didn’t have much time to test out her favorite Christmas gifts before leaving the state. The minute we returned, we took the time to use her PlayWheels Quad Skates and her PlayWheels Skateboard. They were the first item on her list so we wanted to make the most of it.  Continue reading

Open Doors at The Landing

The Landing, Door County, Wisconsin
This Christmas was a world of new for Athena and I. We decided to spend it with my partner’s family in Wisconsin. (I still haven’t found the “boyfriend” term that fits for me but I’m working on it.) It was the first time Athena and I weren’t in our own home, opening gifts from Santa and family that were placed under our Christmas tree with loving care; but home isn’t your own tree or a familiar room. It’s the people who surround you that make it home. Cord’s family has shown us an abundance of love in the last few months. They opened their homes and their hearts to Athena and I. Even though we spent Christmas day, and the two days following Christmas, at The Landing in Door County, Wisconsin, it was the most at home I felt in almost a decade.  Continue reading
