The Real Longboat Key Club

Longboat Key Club & Resort

Admittedly, I’ve let this site slide. I post a lot on my other site, Bucket List Publications, and it’s grown so much that I just don’t have time for this site. I’ve decided to make this site a “behind the scenes” site that talks about the real experiences behind Bucket List Publications and tonight’s experience at Longboat Key Club & Resort is the perfect starting point. Why? Because I drank my way through dinner as I got to know locals who have a membership at the club. With a $150/day budget, it was more valuable to me to keep drinking than it was to have dinner. Come along for my unedited version of Longboat Key Club.  Continue reading

5 Bucket List Worthy Things You Have to Do in New York City

New York City, New York, USA
You have probably overpaid for some craft cocktail, been late waiting for some train on an A/C-less platform, and perhaps stepped on a few hundred roaches. However, whether you have months or a few days to explore New York City, there is no way you will be able to conquer even half of it even with your entire credit-card debt, permanent insomnia, and stolen moments of subway sleep.  From participating in early-morning karaoke to exploring the Statue of Liberty, here are five things you should absolutely include in your NYC tour bucket list. Sea Marina Del Rey with Mojo

Marina Del Rey, California
It’s no secret that I love sailing. There isn’t much that makes me happier than spending an afternoon on the ocean with my family. For the last few weeks, we’ve been living in Playa Del Rey, California and we’re within walking distance to Marina Del Rey. Watching the boats sail by brings up my happiness level tenfold but, of course, I want to be on every one of them. After looking into the sailing options from Marina Del Rey, I found Mojo Sailing. We booked an afternoon with Captain Jim and enjoyed the best part of the day from aboard Mojo.  Continue reading

Legoland Water Park the Bucket List Way

Legoland Water Park, California, USA

Legoland is our favorite park in California. We love the staff, the rides, the food, and the hotel, but we never make enough time for the water park. With so much to experience in one day, I usually feel like we need to choose between spending the whole day at the water park or the whole day in the main section. Last week, though, we found the perfect balance between the main park and the water park. Here’s how we explored Legoland Water Park the bucket list way.  Continue reading

2017 Bucket List – Coachella

Coachella

California has been a magical dreamland of wonder. When I first moved here, I had visions of beaches and palm trees but I had no idea it was such an endless world of entertainment. Sure, I was aware that it was home to movie premieres and countless celebrities, but I didn’t realize that I would attend ballets, musicals, and concerts on a regular basis. One major entertainment event that reminded on my list all this time, though,  is Coachella. The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is an annual music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. From the best people watching in the world to world class art, Coachella offers numerous experiences to enjoy along with the music. So this year, I decided it was time to cross it off my list.  Continue reading

Open Doors at The Landing

The Landing, Door County, Wisconsin
This Christmas was a world of new for Athena and I. We decided to spend it with my partner’s family in Wisconsin. (I still haven’t found the “boyfriend” term that fits for me but I’m working on it.) It was the first time Athena and I weren’t in our own home, opening gifts from Santa and family that were placed under our Christmas tree with loving care; but home isn’t your own tree or a familiar room. It’s the people who surround you that make it home. Cord’s family has shown us an abundance of love in the last few months. They opened their homes and their hearts to Athena and I. Even though we spent Christmas day, and the two days following Christmas, at The Landing in Door County, Wisconsin, it was the most at home I felt in almost a decade.  Continue reading

An Entire Town for Kids at Mill View Ranch

Mill View Ranch, Camino, California

Whenever I travel with Athena, I always look for a park for her to play or a restaurant with an indoor play place. In El Dorado County, they have an entire old-west style miniature town made just for kids. It should be no surprise that despite the cold, I still made time for a visit with Athena.  Continue reading
