Back to the Beach

My ten days in Jordan were life-changing. I journeyed to five of my bucket list locations Pink Shell Beach Resort, Fort Myersincluding Petra, Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea, the Red Sea, and Jerash. I hiked, swam, walked, and climbed my way through the country. I rode 4x4s, buses, cars, planes, donkeys, and camels; and I am exhausted. After ten days of being a hyperactive tourist, I want some beach time. This week we are relaxing at Pink Shell Beach Resort and Marina in Fort Myers, Florida. My plan is to spend as much time as humanly possible in the pool and on the beach. Forget constant exercise and adventure; I’m ready to relax.  Continue reading

Marketing companies should create a beach scent that is vented through office buildings. I bet they would make billions. Continue reading

6am – wake Athena, changer her, feed her, and get ready to play.

As a new mother, waking up at 6am is sleeping in, especially after months of feedings every 3 hours, but I don’t mind. It has become routine and now I get excited for 6am to come so I can start another day with her pleasant, smiling face looking up at me, her tiny like fingers reaching for my face and hands, and her bright blue eyes searching for answers in this new world.

This morning, we decided to let Darren, better known as Daddy, sleep in while we explored the boardwalk of Virginia Beach. Although more touristy than expected, it’s still filled with local color and laid-back visitors. Continue reading

Never “Board” in California

In a land of limitless possibilities, it almost makes it difficult to plan events. When I found out that Darren’s brother was coming to stay with us for 10 days, I wanted to organize the best activities that southern California has to offer, but where to start? What things did Darren and I like the most? What new events would we like to try? What would quench Kev’s thirst for sun, sand, and outdoors? Choices, choices, choices. The line up included a glider lesson with Soaring Academy, kiteboarding with SoCal Kiteboarding, surfing with Banzai Surf School, and a trip to Sea World. Each activity offered something new and exciting, but kiteboarding was the one activity that Kev wanted to try the most. Living in the mountains of Banff National Park, Canada, he was hoping to take the skills that he learned from kiteboarding on water and apply them to the snowy slopes of  British Columbia and Alberta; his lesson with SoCal Kites certainly didn’t disappoint!
