Best Views in the US Virgin Islands

USVI Tourism

Every view in every direction was stunning. From lush mountain ranges to turquoise waters, the US Virgin Islands are picture perfect. Each of the three major islands has a unique character all its own. Fortunately, I was able to explore both St. Thomas and St. John during my 5 day vacation. I’ll have to make another trip back to experience St. Croix but the vistas on St. Thomas and St. John left me awe-struck and wanting more. Here are my favorite USVI views.  Continue reading

Becoming Iron Woman with St. Thomas Flyboarding

Flyboarding St. Thomas, USVI

I seek adventures that scare me. Living life on the other side of my fears is the greatest reward possible. While in St. Thomas, USVI, I had the opportunity to try flyboarding over the pristine waters of Lindbergh Bay with St. Thomas Flyboarding. I was scared; heck, I was petrified. Flying 30 feet above the crystal blue waters, diving like a dolphin, or even trying a backflip or two all sound intimidating enough but strapping a water jetpack board to my feet while doing it is just plan insane. I’m not Ironman; these are things in movies and dreams about the future, right? Nope! It’s the here and now and I did it; and let me tell you – it is absolutely exhilarating, insane, and beyond awesome! My whole life I’ve actually been training to be Iron Woman without realizing it and St. Thomas Flyboarding let me put my skills into action. Continue reading

Helping Me Find the Journey of a Lifetime – ATI Holidays

Group Pic, Namibia

My trip to Namibia was a press trip, planned and organized by Tourism Namibia and their PR firm in the US. I’d worked with tourism boards in the past but never a tour company on the ground until Namibia. ATI Holidays arranged almost all of our transportation, accommodations, activities, and meals. They had planned everything from our airport transfers to our daily excursions and as if that wasn’t enough, the owner, David, joined us on our life-changing Namibia adventure. He became as much a part of the reason for enjoying the trip as the experiences. Normally, I write solely about my adventures but often it’s the people I meet along the way that make it the most memorable.  Continue reading

Through the Eyes of a Himba Child

Himba Child, Namibia

For years, an ancient, semi-nomadic tribe of herders known as the Himba has drawn photographers to Namibia’s northwest. The community living among the majestic Makalani palms at Palmfontein invite visitors to learn more about their proud and ancient lifestyle and culture. While still a traditional tribe, they are becoming familiar with looking at themselves through a camera screen. When I arrived with a GoPro, though, their reaction was priceless. I showed a few children, both young toddlers and older teens, how to hold the GoPro and my Canon T2i and what things looked like through the viewing screen. They took a few photos and videos for themselves and results are beautiful! Continue reading

The Most Beautiful Sight in the World at Riu Palace Cabo

Hotel Riu Cabo

I’ve seen heavenly beaches around the world, some with turquoise waters so clear that you question reality and others with soft white sands that cushion your feet like pillows, but no view could compare to what I saw today at Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas. I guess it could have happened anywhere. It wasn’t so much the beach that inspired me as the people, or person, surrounding me. Today, Athena lifted my heart to a new level of joy. The happiness on her face as she ran down the beach in her big, pink dress and messy hair was life-changing. I am a mother and every second of my life is more beautiful because of it.  Continue reading

Indulge at Grand Europa Hotel, Innsbruck

Grand Hotel Europa Front Desk

It’s still three more days until I get to see Athena and if you’ve been following my posts you know that I’m not taking it very well. Rather than moping around Innsbruck, I’ve decided to indulge in many of the things that I don’t often have time for as a toddler’s mother and Innsbruck’s only 5-star hotel, The Grand Hotel Europa is the ideal starting point for my indulgence.  Continue reading
