Every famous building has a story, a legend hidden deep within it, which intrigues people. In the case of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, it is the story of the hunchback who was the inspiration for book, movies, and cartoons known as “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”.
The Cathedral itself is the most significant aspect of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” novel, acting as both the main setting and the focus of the story’s themes. My passion for reading and my love for the hunchback story, brought me to the Notre Dame Cathedral. I had visualized its beauty and imagined the sound of Quasimodo ringing its bells so actually walking inside was like walking through the pages of my mind.

Notre dame is amazing! It has an incredible energy inside. When I was living in Paris I often stopped by and every time I was inside I felt better after.

Its a magnificent piece of architecture. I know what you mean in regards to visiting places from literature, I’m a massive fan of Bram Stoker’s Dracula fan, so I had to visit Whitby. Its quite surreal when the landscape and structures are the same as they are described in the book.

Lesley, You bring back such memories of Paris …
Although my blog is not a travel blog, I have a few posts about travel, and here is my post featuring Notre Dame. It includes a photo with a different angle of the arch you included, and a scene in the small park behind the cathedral that you included as a photo:

France, specifically Paris has got to be on everyone’s bucket list! I am very lucky for having an opportunity to visit this wonderful through Erasmus Mundus scholarship of EU with my husband. You must visit Sacre-Couer as well, and St Michel in Bordeaux. These are truly amazing structures! Love your blog btw! ^_^
