This is my first trip with other travel bloggers and although I didn’t know anyone before we
departed LAX, I’m quickly learning that I’m with an amazing bunch of people who share my lust for life, travel, and adventure. Today, we went surfing with Surf Fiji Co. and the expression on our faces speaks a thousand words.

As a reminded that it’s not only success that equates to fun, I’ve included one last photo.

Love this. My colleague was just saying “I’d love to travel and write about it.” I said, “People do.” Sending her this post–very timely:)

My philosophy: the more unrealistic I am with my dreams and goals, the more I’m able to achieve. Travel writing is proof of that 🙂

It’s great you are having fun. I never got the hang of surfing in England as the water was always too cold.

Good for you! I still remember my first (and only) surf lesson at Bondi Beach, Australia. “Awesome face-plant!” was the “compliment” I got from my surfing instructor… I had too much fun to care!

Hi Lesley, You are right, you don’t need an introduction – not in the blogging world anyway. What a brave person you are. I have a zest for life, but my likes are somewhat less physical, and none depend on doing something that involves jumping or falling (on purpose). You were one of the first people to visit my site 7 short months ago, and I have followed you ever since. From you I learned how to take my first baby blogging steps. For that reason I am nominating you for a Blog of the Year 2012 Award. I know that you don’t need awards, and don’t have time to follow up on them anyway, but, given the criteria for the award, I couldn’t NOT give it to you. I still enjoy coming to your blog regularly and reading about what you are UP to. So because I just HAD to do it, here is the link. http://wp.me/2jC53. Have a wonderful holiday season. 🙂

With the passing of Zig Ziglar I read an article on his most famous sayings. An adventurous person should be guided by one of his sayings: “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” You are constantly showing us how to be starters. Thanks Leslie.

Excellent! I would try surfing even though I sucked at water skiing, lol! I love to try new things, new food, new adventures, even things that seem pedestrian – I haven’t done it yet so I have to try it at least once. Live life to the fullest. I’ll be checking in to see what grand adventure you’ve accomplished next.

Hi Lesley,
Just wanted to let you know that I nominated you for an “Illuminating Blogger Award.” I love the premise behind your blog and I admire the way you are checking things off your bucket list. Though I haven’t been able to tackle my own bucket list, I am enjoying following your adventures.
If you would like to accept the award, the rules for doing so can be found here: http://cancerinmythirties.wordpress.com/2012/12/01/grateful-am-i/

I’m tempted to learn to surf, but there are way too many sharks in the ocean where I live – think I’ll stick to taking photos of those who dare!
