7000 Acres = 10.9375 Square Miles
That’s the size of the hotel property that I’m visiting in the Dominican Republic. Case de Campo is more like a city than a resort. The driver said, “You have arrived at Case de Campo and it was a good 6 minutes later when we reached the lobby. You know that scene in Jurassic Park where the gates open to the park and all of the mouths are agape? That was my expression when I entered the gated paradise of Casa de Campo.
I’m in for an amazing few days at this sports mecca with a line-up of skeet shooting, horseback riding, golf, catamaran sailing, snorkeling, and water sports. Stay tuned; this is definitely a unique bucket list experience.
These are my free-time choices at Case de Campo. Which one would you choose if you could only pick one?
• Golf lesson or tee time on Pete Dye’s courses
• Cooking lesson with Le Cirque chef
• Water sports at Minitas Beach (snorkeling, paddle-boarding)
• Cigar Factory Tour
Tomorrow at 8:50 am I will embark on a “Shooting Safari” where I will escape into the Dominican jungle for a skeet/trap shooting adventure at the professional 245-acre Shooting Club. Have you tried skeet shooting before? I don’t know what I’m getting myself into, but I’m up for anything and enthusiastic to try something new.

I always go for water sports when I have the chance! Nothing like the feel of tropical water on your skin! Looking forward to seeing more photos!

99% of the time I go with the water sports. I could live in the water and nothing makes me happier but I think there are a few unique options here that I don’t want to pass up. I’m going to go with the golf lessons and get water time in tomorrow morning during my free time 🙂

If you have the time I recommend visiting Isla Saona and Isla Catalina. You can catch boats at La Romana. You will not regret it. They are gorgeous.

I personally would go for the cooking lessons, but then I’m not that adventurous. I’m also old.

I tried a cigar while I was there. I still can’t figure out why someone would enjoy it but to each his/her own I guess. Have you ever tried one?

Amazing! I would do the cooking lessons right away then go bask in the beauty of it all. After a few day I would probably give everything else a whirl.

I’d do the water sports for sure. We don’t have beautiful, warm blue water around here. I hate cooking, I’m laughable at golf and I’ve already toured a cigar factory.

I also went to the Dominican Republic although it was in the 80’s. I remember we took a long road down the island toward its tip. The people were extremely nice and the scenes picture perfect.
