10 countries and countless cities made it on my 2013 Bucket List. France, Dominican Republic, Bermuda, Jordan, Aruba, Curacao, Canada, USA, Mexico, and Fiji were all part of my whirlwind of adventures and new experiences. I never envisioned such an amazing year of opportunity; my life continues to be a dream come true. I am blessed. Some people create a bucket list because they are dying; I created one because I want to live.
Here are my top ten favorite travel photos from 2013.
Number 8 – Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic
Discover the Sporting Life
While Casa de Campo is in Dominican Republic, it is a world of its own.
Have you visited the Caribbean? Which island is your favorite?
Great post – kudos!

Nice shot! Yes, I’ve been to the Caribbean. I’ve been to the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Martinique, the British Virgin Islands, and Aruba. I would like to spend more time in each and every one of them. They’re all very interesting and unique. I have to pick Martinique as my favorite, if only because I was very young at the time and had such a FANTASTIC time with my friends traveling together.

I haven’t been to Martinique and it wasn’t even in my list. I’m going to add it now 🙂
Where did you stay in Aruba? It is one of my favorites in the Caribbean.

I was working on a ship, we stopped there for a couple of days and I got to go ashore for a couple of hours. I’d like to go back and spend more time there.

Lesley another beautiful spot… the Dominican Republic. Yes I have been fortunate to travel to the Caribbean- St Lucia, Panama, Cuba, Costa Rica, Dominican and headed to Jamaica in the new year. All were fabulous with Costa Rica and St Lucia at the top of the list. I will definitely share some photos and stories in future posts. How about you? Any top of the list spots in the Caribbean?

I think Curacao and Aruba top the list so far, but I love each of them for different reasons. I haven’t been to St Lucia yet but I was scheduled for a trip last week that was canceled. I’m sure I’ll make it there in 2014.
We were married in Jamaica so while it isn’t my favorite, it does have a special place in my heart. Where will you be staying?

Thanks for your top spots Lesley. We will be in Negril.

My wife and I tied the knot in Punta Cana, DR in Aug 2012 and for our honeymoon we rented a car, drove through La Roma to Santo Domingo, up to Puerto Plata where we spent five days volunteering with kids. The entire DR is beautiful! We’re headed to Riviera Maya, Mexico in January for a wedding and want to get off the beaten path to explore Mayan ruins and cenotes while we’re there (sorry if that’s not considered Caribbean?!?) Bucket list = sail for an extended time in/around Caribbean.

Have you been to Mexico before? I prefer it over DR, especially the Riveria area. I’ll be following along to read all about it 🙂

I just crossed the border from Texas one time to a city called Progresso… so no, not really! I haven’t been to Cancun or Riveria yet, but definitely looking forward to it! Any recommendations in that area for a day trip?

I’ve been to some of the Us Virgin Islands. Haven’t encountered any beaches since then that even come close to comparison! (though I do love my coastal NC hometown )

We love the NC coast and thought about living there rather than returning to California. If the job opportunities for my husband were in comparison, it would be a great possibility.
I haven’t been to the US Virgin Islands. Do you have a recommendation for accommodations?

Well, I took a cruise down there with my family, so I didn’t actually stay overnight on any of the islands, just the boat. Sorry I can’t be of more help!

Aruba was one of my favorites but I haven’t visited them all. Barbados is still on the list. Maybe I should include it for 2014. 🙂 Do you have a recommendation for accommodations there?

Cannot even imagine how many pics you went through to compile this list.
I ADORE the reason you have for your bucket list – it is a MUCH happier pursuit when it is for living a more fulfilling, goal filled existence! Fingers crossed others will catch the bug.

beautiful shot, I have always wanted to go but seeing as I can’t plant enough trees to cancel out the flight, looks like I’m going to have to sail there, could be worse! 🙂

Never been there Leslie. You know I’m living vicariously through your photos. Beautiful. You’ve taken me so many places since I started following you. I love them all, but I have to learn to walk again first. Then on to bigger and better.

I have visited the Caribbean. I grew up in Barbados but my favourite does not really exist because I love Grenada too and the Grenadines are cool. How can you have a fav anyway, you cheeeky chap. Glad it wasn’t me who married you (read that one) but thanks for the like. Keep posting. I too have a bucket list but I won’t start on it in earnest til I’m 109. I love live as well.
