10 countries and countless cities made it on my 2013 Bucket List. France, Dominican Republic, Bermuda, Jordan, Aruba, Curacao, Canada, USA, Mexico, and Fiji were all part of my whirlwind of adventures and new experiences. I never envisioned such an amazing year of opportunity; my life continues to be a dream come true. I am blessed. Some people create a bucket list because they are dying; I created one because I want to live.
Here are my top ten favorite travel photos from 2013.
Number 7 – Pink Shell Beach Resort, Florida
Situated on 1,500 feet of sugary white sand at the tip of Fort Myers Beach, Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina looks like a postcard.
Have you been to Florida? What are your favorite Florida beach destinations?
the last photo was a sporting destination and this is more relaxation; which do you prefer? Relaxing or adventure?
Home! Beautiful photo! I can’t wait to move back to Florida – I miss the beach!!!

Beautiful photograph!
I used to live in Florida and this just remined me of the wonderful beaches there! I haven’t been able to explore that many, but I remember Barefoot Beach in Naples being my favorite – always calm and with barely anyone about. It was where I first started my collection of butterfly shells. 🙂

I haven’t been to Naples. I’ll have to add that to my 2014 list. Do you know of a great resort/hotel there?

I wouldn’t be too fussed on Naples Lesley, it’s not the nicest place in the world. But if you want to see Pompeii then its worth it, I would stay in Sorrento nearby though, that’s nice.

I’ll second that vote for Sorrento! It was a detour for me years ago when it was too windy for the boat to Capri. Would make a lovely addition to your next list!

I feel well-traveled. I have been some place you’ve been. Seeing your photo made me want to share one of mine from Ft. Myers Beach…seeing it reminds me of sights, sounds and smells of an early morning on the beach. http://eachandeverydayphotodiary.wordpress.com/2013/03/16/day-72-gifts-of-the-gulf/

South Beach, although busy, was a great spot for a Mom/adult daughter getaway. Have you been?

I was in South Beach before but only for a day and not with my daughter. Maybe we could make our way down for a long weekend trip before the end of the year. Do you have a hotel recommendation?

We stayed at W South Beach. Loved it. South beach also has a great boardwalk for running/ walking.

Thanks for the suggestion. We’re going to South Carolina this weekend for a visit to Kiawah Island Golf Resort, but when I get back I’ll start looking into it 🙂

I live in Florida, retired and on limited income…
I lucked into “The Vacation Shoppe’ and the RSi program.
Lots of recommendations and discounts available.

using their free incentives to get me started
on seeing the other side of the beach.

I grew up in Ft. Myers and, in fact, have stayed at the Pink Shell though I must confess it was quite different at the time. I love the west coast of Florida.

Me too! This was my first stay on the west side but I will return for sure. Beautiful beaches! Have you been to the east side? Do you have a favorite spot in Florida?

Florida is beautiful. Great pictures!
I really liked visiting John D. MacAurthur State Park. It was relaxing and had a local feel. They have endangered wildlife and plants, a bit of intracoastal waterway that you may rent a kayak to explore, mangrove forest, sandy beaches, and sea turtle nest sites! There is a lot of magic to be had – no cabanas, though.

I have to say I was entranced by Key West, crowded as it was. So quaint and touristy, yet calming. Mallory Square at sunset was a treat. And eating at Backyard Louie’s, outside, with that view. Of course I went just to see Hemingway’s house…

Definitely putting this destination on my bucket list for 2014 for Dave and I. Looks absolutely tranquil. And still in the states – don’t think I will ever get him to go abroad.

I’ve never spent anytime on Florida beaches, just admired them from the deck of a cruise ship pulling in or out of port at Ft Lauderdale or Miami! This looks like a place I could go and sink my toes in the sand!! I can’t get enough of the turquoise water. Here in Delaware, the ocean looks green. 😦 I remember how blue the Atlantic was sailing from Europe until we got 20 miles from the US coastline, when the water turned green and stayed that way all the way up the Delaware bay, through the C&D canal and into the Chesapeake.

I went to Florida several times, love Sanibel and Captiva Island. I recommend to rent a private house at Cape Coral with pool and boat and then floating with your boat over the Caloosahatchee River until you reach the Ocean, watching pelicans, manatees and dolphins (if you are lucky) 🙂 Greetings, SASA
