Top 10 Favorite Travel Photos from 2013 – #1

10 countries and countless cities made it on my 2013 Bucket List. France, Dominican Republic, Bermuda, Jordan, Aruba, Curacao, Canada, USA, Mexico, and Fiji were all part of my whirlwind of adventures and new experiences. I never envisioned such an amazing year of opportunity; my life continues to be a dream come true. I am blessed. Some people create a bucket list because they are dying; I created one because I want to live.

Here are my top ten favorite travel photos from 2013.

Number 1 – Curacao

Curacao Beach

Why do you think this photo is my favorite travel photo from 2013? I had thousands of choices but this one was at the top of my list.

  1. Aside from the beautiful scenery I’m willing to bet the trip itself had some special significance. I always find that whoever I’m traveling with or if something extraordinary happens I am more drawn to a picture from that trip even if it isn’t the best photo.

  2. technically is not your best photo (take it from a photographer) but i do incline to say what mike said previous: the time spent there had a big influence in your decision. don’t get me wrong – is absolutely nothing wrong with your decision and i do respect it. at the end of the day we are all subjectives when it comes to images and things that we attached to an image. i would love to see something like this next year, a top ten of all the places that you will visit, i think it’s a great idea

  3. You are killing me with these photos. Especially now as we head into the dark of winter and the last week out temps have been below freezing. Walking the dogs in the dark every night freezing my tushy is making a trip south look pretty inviting. Have to say I am going to put 4 destinations on my list to see: Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Rome. Maybe if I say it out loud I will do it!!

  4. Why #1? Without looking at the other comments yet I’d have to say horizon. One must have a vision, or horizon, in order to go far in life. I admire those that do. You must watch where you are going, i.e. putting one foot in front of the other, but IMO truly successful people have a distant vision they are pursuing. As many have said, it’s all about the journey, Be Here Now (Baba Ram Das/Richard Alpert, live for today, etc. Having a vision is good too. (It’s also a pretty picture.)

  6. I had a similar experience to you. I was a business studies teacher in a secondary school until I was forty. Then I had an epiphany and decided that I could no longer go on. I became a social worker with the physically disabled. I later returned to teaching but I valued my years out as a social worker.

  7. Hmm I’m not so sure… Obviously, it’s lovely – the curvature of the horizon and transparency of the water pull you straight in – but it does look as though it might have had one too many Instagram/photoshop facelifts. Would the unfiltered version have looked similar?
