Lake Arrowhead Resort – A State of Mind

Lake Arrowhead Views

I love living in Orange County, California. Every day is like being on vacation. The weather is perfect, drinks are cheap, the ocean is only a short drive, or walk, away, and the opportunities for entertainment are bountiful. Sometimes, though, the traffic and trying to find a parking spot can be taxing. With my mother and sister in town, I wanted to show them the natural, peaceful surroundings that southern California has to offer. We packed our bags and headed to Lake Arrowhead Resort for a short, three-day getaway. We arrived to a state of mind; a relaxing calm that rushed over us from the moment we reached the village.

When I checked in, the staff were exceptionally friendly. Two front desk employees greeted me, asked me about the drive, talked to me about the weather, and before I knew it I had room keys in my hand. It was like magic. I don’t even remember them asking me for my name. It was all so casual.

I marveled at the high ceilings and rich furniture. Textures stand out to me. When I walk into a room that has wood mixed with leather and stone, I feel a sense of warmth that reminds me of being at a summer cottage. I imagine designing a similar house of my own.

With the keys in my hand, I followed the directions from the staff to get to my suite. We walked down the hall and arrived at the gigantic double doors. I knew it was going to be stunning. I pushed open the door to endless windows two stories high and similar textures to the lobby. This was my Paradise.

Lake Arrowhead Resort - Room with a View

We dropped our bags and ran around like children checking out all of the amazing amenities like two fireplaces, a kitchen, two bathrooms, and lake views from every room.

It was more chilly than in OC, making the fireplace useful. We put our feet up and admired the views. I was exactly where I wanted to be with three of my favorite people in the world.

It’s surprising how a location can completely adjust your state of mind. How could you be stresses here? How could you worry when surrounded by this? We have a full day tomorrow to soak it up. This is my version of a spa.

    • I truly do love being in OC but driving here in under two hours was amazing. It’s like being in a different country but it’s possible to visit on weekends. Have you ever been here before?

    • I’ve had lots of time to think about life while I was here. I’m leaving tomorrow but feel alive! I’m already thinking about my next vacation here. Do you have a place close to home where you can escape?

      • Unfortunately mine isn’t as adventurous as yours, but I do love visiting the Getty where looking at the vista leads me to believe I am somewhere spectacular or the one in Malibu which offers some incredible trails to hike nearby.

  2. Leslie , consider taking them to the Sherman Gardens in Corona Del Mar ( Newport Beach). The head gent there is a fellow named Scott LeFleur and I am sure he would be happy to give you a tour. They also have a fine restaurant on the premises. I bet your Mom and Sister would enjoy. Thanks, Nick
