Our two week tour of Mauritius includes two Constance Hotels. Our first stay is at Constance Belle Mare Plage, Mauritius. I selected it because of it’s combination of luxury and family-friendly amenities. Even though my month in Antarctica was the best travel experience of my life, I needed some relaxing fun in the sun and a refresher at the spa. Here’s a look at our digs at Constance Belle Mare Plage.
There are four main pools. This is the one directly in front of our room. It’s warm enough that we just walk in without hesitation and we don’t even bother getting towels when we get out. The air temperature is so warm that we air dry.
The other pools are equally beautiful but with one so close to us we don’t bother walking any further for a swim.
The property is larger than I realized. There are 92 Prestige Rooms, 96 Junior Suites, 6 Deluxe Suites, 20 distinctive Villas and a Presidential Villa. This is one of the Junior Suites and where we called home for the last four days.
Belle Mare Plage’s beach stretches 2km and is filled with powdery, white sand. The water is clean and warm with the most amazing blues and gentle waves. It’s child-friendly and large enough that water sports don’t interfere with swimmers.
The spa and golf courses are relaxing ways to refresh and rejuvenate. I had a Signature U Spa Body Treatment that was my favorite spa experience yet. I treated my skin to a total experience with a body scrub customized to my skin type followed by a nurturing wrap to completely re-hydrate and restore my skin. After a month in Antarctica, I needed a pick-me-up. It was a return to happiness for my body and mind.
The seven restaurant choices offer everything from Mediterranean and French to buffet and local cuisine. My favorite options were La Spiaggia and Blue Penny Cafe. I loved the atmosphere and surroundings at La Spiaggia. Situated directly on the beach with my favorite servers, I could have eaten at La Spiaggia every night of the week.
Mauritius is filled with natural beauty beyond your imagination. Massive, cascading waterfalls, lush mountains, and pristine beaches are commonly found around every corner but Constance Belle Mare Plage is so fantastic that some days we just stay at the hotel.
It looks very inviting

Warm ones generally, although a cold weekend away with a roaring open fire is good too.

For sure! It does have adventures too though. There are lots of free water sports like water skiing. It’s a reminder to come back as a family (with my husband) so we can try out the adventures as well.

Gosh, good question. The rooms look so inviting you almost just want to just stay there and enjoy them. But I would have to say read a book under one of those beautiful cabanas while sipping a tropical drink and dipping my toes in the water. It seems a place like that needs restful enjoyment rather than a type A travel list full of activities.
Have a nice time!

The ocean vistas and warm temperatures were my favorite part of the entire trip. I love living in Southern California but we never get that warm, clear blue water like Mauritius.

How on earth did you get Darren to agree to sit this one out? Looks so romantic!

Yeah, it wasn’t so much of an agreement as a lack of options. He’s working on a major project at work right now and it’s going to keep him excessively busy until June or later. I’ll make it up to him when he finishes his project. 🙂
