Every year I make my bucket list more extreme. I keep thinking that life can’t get any better than this moment, yet I’m constantly surprised at the new opportunities and adventures that come my way. We are all capable of astounding things. I want to look back on my life as a magnificent journey. My yearly bucket list is never the be all and end all for that year. If I miss a few items because something else comes up or if I have to make additions because new opportunities arise, that’s ok. It’s not set in stone and I’m not discouraged if everything doesn’t go exactly as planned; that’s a major part of the life’s beauty.
Here’s what I accomplished on this year’s list so far:
1. Visit Argentina
2. Sail to Antarctica
3. Visit Chamarel Seven Colored Earth
4. Be part of the Sailing Crew on Tall Ship Bark Europa
5. Visit the Most Southern City in the World
6. Stay at Loews Hotel in San Diego
7. Bring Athena to a New Country
8. Hike an Active Volcano
9. Visit Mauritius
10. Sail the Drake Passage
11. See Cape Horn
12. See Penguins in their Natural Habitat
13. Take Athena to SeaWorld
14. Take Athena to the New Children’s Museum in San Diego
15. Bring Athena to the New Frozen Section at Disney California Adventure
16. Swim in Antarctica
17. Go to a spa with Athena
18. Visit Legoland California
You can read the full list here.
At the end of the month, I’m off to Israel and Uganda for several more.
What bucket list items have you accomplished this year? What are you planning next?
Impressive is an understatement!

Instead of attacking my bucket list, I returned to Paris for a wonderful week. Next up though is my first trip to Budapest.

That sounds awesome. I haven’t been to Budapest. What made you choose it? How long will you be there?

My complete bucket list is to live another year. It doesn’t change any more and so far I have accomplished it. I intend to do it again this year. You and Athena are amazing. Think she’ll follow in your footsteps?

I’d like for her to but I’ll encourage whatever she has a passion for. I’ll try not to push it on her if she’d rather do other things. I do see so much value in seeing the world though. It would be fantastic if she continued to travel and explore with me. 🙂

That would be fun for you, but it’s a wise decision to let her spread her own wings. So many things I wanted my daughter to do with me, but she had other plans, and other paths to follow. We are both happy, and still close.

Wow! Fantastic list. Mine isn’t quite as epic but New Zealand has always been on my bucket list and I’ll be going there at the end of the year.

“I keep thinking that life can’t get any better than this moment, yet I’m constantly surprised at the new opportunities and adventures that come my way.” Me too, but my adventures are very different from yours! Here my granddaughter and I hide out in a cavern, caring for rescued teddies while hostile beasts mill about outside our haven. Not to mention the doll whose brains have migrated to her feet . . . .

That would be wonderful. I love Northern Ireland. The beauties are endless. If the rain wasn’t equally endless, I’d most likely spend more time there 😉

Can’t wait to see your pics from Israel! My family hiked across a really awesome new bridge in the Olympic National Park this year, and we also visited “the cathedral bridge” in Portland, OR. Up next for me on my bucket list? Actually attending my 20th high school reunion, then Turkey!

Brilliant achievements and not even 1/2 way through the year. So far this year we have achieved visiting Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope and South Africa safari. Yet to achieve is a world Cruise, which starts next month.
