California has been a magical dreamland of wonder. When I first moved here, I had visions of beaches and palm trees but I had no idea it was such an endless world of entertainment. Sure, I was aware that it was home to movie premieres and countless celebrities, but I didn’t realize that I would attend ballets, musicals, and concerts on a regular basis. One major entertainment event that reminded on my list all this time, though, is Coachella. The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is an annual music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. From the best people watching in the world to world class art, Coachella offers numerous experiences to enjoy along with the music. So this year, I decided it was time to cross it off my list.
Coachella isn’t a willy-nilly event. It takes planning. You need accommodations, transportation to the Coachella Valley, transportation to and from the event each day, event tickets, and the proper clothing for the desert.
I booked the DoubleTree by Hilton Golf Resort Palm Springs. It’s a little distance from the festival but I’ve stayed there before and I love the property. I thought that I could use the Coachella Shuttle and I wouldn’t need to worry about transportation to and from the event, but I soon realized the shuttle doesn’t stop at my hotel. Uber and taxis are available but at a premium during the event. With only one day left before I head to the desert for one of the largest events I’ve ever attended, I still don’t have it all worked out.
I’m sure many of you have attended Coachella before. What did you do for transportation if you weren’t staying at one of the Coachella Shuttle hotels? Did you consider reserving a campsite near Coachella? Did you book one of the Coachella hotels? I look forward to reading your suggestions.
At this point, you just may have to pay premium Uber fares. I’m sure that you’ve thought of this, but what does your hotel say? The festival itself has grown well beyond my days.

They suggested I still utilize the shuttle and Uber to the nearer shuttle hotel which is three miles away. It seems like a good option.
I would have loved to attend Coachella years ago but I was pregnant within the first year of moving to California and I’ve had a young child ever since. It never made sense for me to attend until this year.
I still think it will be amazing.
Have you gone before?

Hi. That’s seems like a pretty good idea. I went years ago way before it became a big thing. I also went last year for one of the weekend of “Oldchella” when the ancient band like the Stones, Neigh Young and so on played. You’ll have a great time. Just remember, even if it’s not hot, it is very dusty.

We always camp out. This year was the earliest that we got in, and it was only a 5 minute walk to the gates. It was our 3rd together, 4th overall. How was the experience?
