Steak Money On It – The Keg

When it comes to steak, it’s undeniable that The Keg serves only the finest cuts. They are aged for tenderness. Then, a special blend of seasonings is added to lend unique flavor while still allowing the natural properties of the high quality, well-aged beef to be enjoyed to its fullest. This ensures that a tender, succulent, flavorful steak is guaranteed off the grill every time, but I often wondered if there was more than meets the “rib-eye”; is The Keg a cut above the rest in areas other than steak? Their menu not only features tender, juicy steaks, but vast appetizer choices, slow succulent chicken, and irresistible desserts. Quality, comfort, and superior service are three key ingredients that make The Keg Steakhouse & Bar experience like no other. Continue reading

While the Rest of the World Moves at a Frantic Pace, Sunset Cove Villas Cultivates an Air of Unhurried Leisure and Tranquility

Laguna Beach, and the surrounding Orange County areas, is the reason my husband and I moved across the continent. There are quaint shops, delicious restaurants, art galleries, beachfront beauty, year-round sunshine, and friendly people that remind me of eastern Canada. Sunset Cove Villas, located directly on the beach and minutes from the heart of downtown, are ideally situated to take full advantage of these benefits. Rising directly above Laguna Beach’s dramatic coastline, one of the most desirable beaches on the California coast,  Sunset Cove Villas face the majestic beauty of the Pacific Ocean, creating a picturesque setting and romantic atmosphere. The crashing waves, white sand, spectacular sunsets, and gentle breezes make a stay at Sunset Cove Villas priceless. What nature has not graciously provided, the owners of Sunset Cove Villas have; luxury, ample amenities, and attention to every detail are all part of the Villa experience at Sunset Cove. I’ve stayed in hotels in 33 countries and countless cities, but none have compared to the 180 degree view of the ocean I experienced while waking up at Sunset Cove Villas. With a balcony on the water and access to the ocean just footsteps away, our Seychelles Villa was the kind of oceanside experience I’d associated with Southern California living, but had yet to attain. I finally soaked up the chance to spend some time living my California dream. Continue reading

The Full Vegas Experience without Setting Foot on The Strip

In 2011, the AAA (American Automobile Association) added 15 more top-flight properties to its list of 5 Diamond Hotels, bringing the number to 124. These proprieties, all meet the highest standards for hospitality, service, and accommodations. Planning a getaway in the USA, Canada, the Caribbean, or Mexico couldn’t be easier. Just choose a Five-Diamond Hotel award winner and you can guarantee a successful trip, right? I wanted to put one of the hotels to the test so I chose the largest 5 Diamond resort in the world – The Venetian & The Palazzo in Las Vegas, Nevada. With spectacular suites, top shows, exquisite dining, and an abundance of amenities, The Venetian Resort offers it all; it is a center piece, a piece de resistance, for Vegas. During our four night stay, we were able to experience all that Vegas is known for and has to offer by visiting just one resort. Continue reading

Where Romance and Childhood Dreams Come Alive – Winter in Venice, Las Vegas

The Venetian and The Palazzo, the world’s largest Five Diamond resorts, magically transformed into the most majestic winter surroundings Las Vegas has ever seen, creating Winter in Venice. An outdoor wonderland complete with a skating rink, charming string lights, brilliantly lit trees, holiday music, holiday treats, and displays set the scene. We were greeted by colorful characters wandering the property, spreading good cheer; we were dazzled by a spectacular light show performance; we were blessed with Santa’s presence during the Santa Story Readings; we indulged in chocolate chips cookies and milk; we relaxed at the Canyon Ranch SpaClub; and we gazed into our future together while being serenaded by a gondolier. Winter in Venice made romance and our wildest imagination collide during our four night stay at the Palazzo in Las Vegas, Nevada.

WINTER IN VENICE HOLIDAY CELEBRATION

Since moving to California, I shamefully admit I do miss the seasons, especially during Fall when my home in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada is synonymous with the changing of the leaves and winter becomes a magical paradise filled with holiday cheer, skating, fluffy snowflakes, decorations and huge Christmas trees, caroling and singing, and warm apple cider or hot chocolate by the fire place. What I don’t miss is the extreme cold weather, the frigid, damp winds that chill to the bone, and shoveling massive amounts of snow only to drive on treacherous roads.  The Venetian and The Palazzo Las Vegas just introduced Winter in Venice. With 49 days, Nov. 21 – Jan. 8, of holiday festivities, Winter in Venice will be the ultimate vacation for an unforgettable holiday experience and it will be taking place during my Las Vegas trip in November.  With all the perks of winter and none of the disadvantages, I will celebrate the winter season on the Las Vegas Strip with The Venetian and The Palazzo.

Fine Dining on Flagship’s Dinner Dance Cruise, San Diego

The San Diego bay breeze, a great dinner menu, and the superb seascapes are just three of many reasons why Darren and I chose the Flagship Dinner & Dance Cruise around San Diego Bay. It was the perfect way to enjoy a meal and see San Diego from a different perspective.

Our romantic getaway to Coronado was matched perfectly while enjoying the cruise. Sailing around San Diego Bay and underneath the Coronado Bridge was breathtaking. From Harbor and Shelter Islands to the U.S. Navy shipyards, our Flagship Tour covered it all. We relaxed comfortably seated next to each other and watched San Diego from luxury seats. Upscale Accommodations in Coronado, San Diego

What makes a hotel upscale in San Diego? In a city full of activities, adventure, beauty,
endless summers, and fine dining beyond anywhere else in the world, I wanted to find accommodations that matched the perfection of San Diego. With a prime location, friendly staff, and uniquely designed suites, the award winning 1906 Lodge is the epitome  of all that is perfection in San Diego. Their unmatched service, gourmet food, and attention to every detail make 1906 Lodge worthy of the #1 Coronado Hotel Award on Trip Advisor, the #1 San Diego Bed & Breakfast Award with “Best of San Diego 2010”, the Top 10 Romantic Hotel in the US by Trip Advisor, and the 2011 Fodor’s Choice Award. It’s Coronado Beach lodging at its finest. Unbearable Behavior

A whopping 8 hour drive north of Winnipeg, is a town called Norway House, Manitoba. It offers beauty in a face of fidget weather and friends in an unfamiliar territory. But a common tourist attraction may shock you and make you shake your head in disbelief.

When I first arrived in Norway House, a local resident, and now friend, asked me if I had been to the garbage dump yet, which seemed like a rather odd question. I didn’t know if I should take it offensively or if I should dare ask what he was talking about. After a look of great confusion and a moment of hesitant silence, he told me I really should visit the dump. It was only a few minutes away so he offered to take me. Although I was confused, I trusted my friend so I followed him to the dump! Continue reading

Dachaigh mo Chridhe, Ceap Breatann – Home of my Heart, Cape Breton

Cape Breton is famous for its hospitality – a musical welcome that has you up and dancing or at least tapping your foot before you know what hit you. Cape Breton is home, no matter where you have lived, it will always call you back. It’s finding family in unexpected places, friends all around, and music to wear out your dancing shoes and singing voices…. and Highland Heights Inn offers it all. Continue reading

How to Win McDonalds Monopoly

Anyone that knows me knows that I have an addiction. It may not be to drugs, alcohol, or smoking but it is just as fierce – it’s to McDonalds. Since I was a little girl, my ideal meal was a Big Mac combo and I haven’t faltered since. The zesty Mac sauce and the salty fries make my mouth water just thinking about it. Even when I lived three hours away from the nearest McDonalds, I would make the trek at least once a month to get my fix. My husband was fully aware of my faults when we met and he still accepted me with open arms.  It was a surprise that I’d yet to win any major prize on the McDonalds Monopoly and I had proposed that it was rigged.
