America’s Most Beautiful Drive & Best Free Attraction!

When it comes to mind-blowing scenery, cliff-hugging stop-offs, ragged rocks plunging into  the sea, and pristine beaches for both surfers and swimmers, few routes deliver like this one. This All-American Road encompasses Carmel Highlands, Big Sur, Bixby Bridge, San Simeon, Malibu, and Newport Beach. The Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), also known as California State Route 1, is America’s most beautiful drive. Our drive from San Francisco to Laguna Hills encompassed most of America’s best free attraction and we were not disappointed. Continue reading

While the Rest of the World Moves at a Frantic Pace, Sunset Cove Villas Cultivates an Air of Unhurried Leisure and Tranquility

Laguna Beach, and the surrounding Orange County areas, is the reason my husband and I moved across the continent. There are quaint shops, delicious restaurants, art galleries, beachfront beauty, year-round sunshine, and friendly people that remind me of eastern Canada. Sunset Cove Villas, located directly on the beach and minutes from the heart of downtown, are ideally situated to take full advantage of these benefits. Rising directly above Laguna Beach’s dramatic coastline, one of the most desirable beaches on the California coast,  Sunset Cove Villas face the majestic beauty of the Pacific Ocean, creating a picturesque setting and romantic atmosphere. The crashing waves, white sand, spectacular sunsets, and gentle breezes make a stay at Sunset Cove Villas priceless. What nature has not graciously provided, the owners of Sunset Cove Villas have; luxury, ample amenities, and attention to every detail are all part of the Villa experience at Sunset Cove. I’ve stayed in hotels in 33 countries and countless cities, but none have compared to the 180 degree view of the ocean I experienced while waking up at Sunset Cove Villas. With a balcony on the water and access to the ocean just footsteps away, our Seychelles Villa was the kind of oceanside experience I’d associated with Southern California living, but had yet to attain. I finally soaked up the chance to spend some time living my California dream. Continue reading

The Full Vegas Experience without Setting Foot on The Strip

In 2011, the AAA (American Automobile Association) added 15 more top-flight properties to its list of 5 Diamond Hotels, bringing the number to 124. These proprieties, all meet the highest standards for hospitality, service, and accommodations. Planning a getaway in the USA, Canada, the Caribbean, or Mexico couldn’t be easier. Just choose a Five-Diamond Hotel award winner and you can guarantee a successful trip, right? I wanted to put one of the hotels to the test so I chose the largest 5 Diamond resort in the world – The Venetian & The Palazzo in Las Vegas, Nevada. With spectacular suites, top shows, exquisite dining, and an abundance of amenities, The Venetian Resort offers it all; it is a center piece, a piece de resistance, for Vegas. During our four night stay, we were able to experience all that Vegas is known for and has to offer by visiting just one resort. Continue reading

Where Romance and Childhood Dreams Come Alive – Winter in Venice, Las Vegas

The Venetian and The Palazzo, the world’s largest Five Diamond resorts, magically transformed into the most majestic winter surroundings Las Vegas has ever seen, creating Winter in Venice. An outdoor wonderland complete with a skating rink, charming string lights, brilliantly lit trees, holiday music, holiday treats, and displays set the scene. We were greeted by colorful characters wandering the property, spreading good cheer; we were dazzled by a spectacular light show performance; we were blessed with Santa’s presence during the Santa Story Readings; we indulged in chocolate chips cookies and milk; we relaxed at the Canyon Ranch SpaClub; and we gazed into our future together while being serenaded by a gondolier. Winter in Venice made romance and our wildest imagination collide during our four night stay at the Palazzo in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Thanksgiving Holiday Feast at The Palazzo‏ in Vegas

Our first American Thanksgiving was celebrated at The Palazzo and it will go down in our history books as the grandest Thanksgiving to date. The inagural event, held at the waterfall atrium, was a unique, festive, and sold-out holiday feast fit for kings and queens.  We sat side-by-side at two 30-foot masterfully decorated tables with guests from around the world, sharing the joyous holiday occasion with our “Palazzo family” while being surrounded by magnificent décor featuring autumn leaves, bales of hay, cornucopia, and traditional crops of American landscape. Although it could never compare to my mother’s slow-cooked-to-perfection turkey or her moist, melt-in-your-mouth rolls or being surrounded by my brothers and sisters while reminiscing about childhood and sometimes reliving it, The Palazzo created a welcoming environment that reminded me of all things for which I am thankful. WINTER IN VENICE HOLIDAY CELEBRATION

Since moving to California, I shamefully admit I do miss the seasons, especially during Fall when my home in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada is synonymous with the changing of the leaves and winter becomes a magical paradise filled with holiday cheer, skating, fluffy snowflakes, decorations and huge Christmas trees, caroling and singing, and warm apple cider or hot chocolate by the fire place. What I don’t miss is the extreme cold weather, the frigid, damp winds that chill to the bone, and shoveling massive amounts of snow only to drive on treacherous roads.  The Venetian and The Palazzo Las Vegas just introduced Winter in Venice. With 49 days, Nov. 21 – Jan. 8, of holiday festivities, Winter in Venice will be the ultimate vacation for an unforgettable holiday experience and it will be taking place during my Las Vegas trip in November.  With all the perks of winter and none of the disadvantages, I will celebrate the winter season on the Las Vegas Strip with The Venetian and The Palazzo.

Yearly Bucket List; I Need Your Ideas!

I’ve had a Bucket List for years, but I’ve never created something with definite times. In the last year, I’ve been to 7 countries, got married, got pregnant, went sky-diving, bungee jumping, paragliding, base jumping, rock climbing, sailing, cruising, canoeing, canopy touring (zipping), jet skiing, windsurfing, dog sledding, helicopter touring, rappelling, trapeze swinging, caving, kayaking, and swimming with beluga whales and dolphins all with a bucket list in mind and an open heart.

My husband and I consciously thought about where we’d like to live in the world, chose southern California, quit our permanent positions, sold everything we owned, packed the car with what was left, and moved across the continent to our dream location. We want to live a life of fairy-tales with attention to every spectacular moment along the way.

Soak up the Perfect Blend of Relaxation and Outdoor Enjoyment in a Desert Paradise – Palm Springs, California

Nestled at the base of the majestic Mount San Jacinto, Palm Springs is a world-famous resort destination. Ever since movie stars first appeared in Palm Springs in the 1930s, laying claim to ranch estates and enjoying fancy hotels, the clean, dry air and sunshine, all 360 days a year of it, has made Palm Springs irresistible. In search of a calm, relaxing, intimate hideaway, we found Sundance Villas. Tucked away in a secluded location, Sundance Villas provided an exquisite villa with complete privacy and luxury. With stunning natural beauty and lodging as unique as the destination, Palm Springs was an oasis in the desert. One Year of Travel!

After posting One year of Extreme Adventures, I started to think about the travel that I’ve done in the last year. I’ve been to Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Bahamas, Mexico (Baja California and Riviera Maya) and Jamaica. I’ve also been to several provinces in Canada such as Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and even more states in the United States like Florida, Alaska, Nevada, and California. I’ve compiled a group of my favorite moments from each country, state, and province. Come along with me on an amazing, unforgettable trip through the last year in travel.

There may not be words to fill in the blanks but the expression on my face accompanied by the surreal surrounding create enough words to fill an entire blog.
