Mauritius is a Sea of New Colors

Boats in Mauritius

Our visit to Mauritius and Constance Hotels & Resorts was filled with a multitude of color. It’s diversity, uniqueness, pristine beaches, rich culture, and varied activities left Athena and I both wanting more. But the true draw to Mauritius for me was its new shades of color that I didn’t know existed. The ocean’s blues called my name and wrapped me like a blanket. I’ve included a few of my favorites so you could experience the beauty of the ocean in Mauritius. Which one calls your name?  Continue reading

My 2014 Bucket List will be Completely, Unbelievably Insane

Hawaii - The Big Island

Some people create a list because they are dying, I created one because I want to live! I want every day to be better than the last and every day to be the best day of my life. Is that completely insane? Ridiculous? Good! Last year’s bucket list included unrealistic dreams like visiting 10 new countries, reaching 20 million blog views, attending NBA All-Star weekend, and night snorkeling with manta rays in Hawaii. But I want this year to be even more outside of the box. I’d like your suggestions. I currently have 25 items so I need 25 more. I don’t have endless funding or access to private jets or yachts, but I do have an incurable drive to make all of my dreams a reality. What’s an extreme adventure that I’m missing? Where is the best, family-friendly, travel destination?  What’s something so bizarre that I just might want to give it a try? Help bring my 2014 list to new heights. Continue reading

Inspirational Sources for Travel & Adventure

Extreme-Adventures

Being able to explore new countries, cultures, and adventures is a dream come true. At 32, I’ve visited 38 countries and participated in countless extreme adventures that I thought only existed in movies and dreams. I mean, who actually pilots a jet pack or a fighter jet? Who jumps from an airplane, rides in a hot air balloon, performs aerobatics in a biplane, and swims with whale sharks all in the same weekend? Bucket List Publications isn’t just a blog or a website; it has helped me live in a dream world. It has made my daily life better than my wildest imagination. Sometimes it’s exhausting just trying to think up my next big vacation or adventure. My imagination/dreams, fellow travel/adventure bloggers, social media, The Trip Tribe, and Great American Days are my go-to sources for travel and adventure inspiration.

Add it to the List – I “Love” Beach Tennis

While in Aruba, I discovered a new sport that combines everything I love about sports. Aruba Beach TennisTake the fun and fast-paced sport of tennis, add a volleyball court, and a sunny beach setting, and you have the new, exciting sport called beach tennis. It’s like tennis except its played on a regulation beach volleyball court. Two to four players on each team volley back and forth without letting the ball bounce. One hit per team is all that is allowed and points are scored when the ball is hit outside the lines or touches the ground. Beach tennis is played with specially designed paddles and de-pressurized tennis balls that make it easier to keep a rally going. After twenty minutes of instruction, I was ready to test my skills in a match and after two hours, I wanted to add “play beach tennis regularly” to my bucket list. I think I found my new favorite sport. Continue reading

Getting Dirty in Aruba

Whenever I have an opportunity to try something new, I do it. Life is beautiful and full of ATV Adventure, Arubaadventures around every corner so you have to put yourself out there and give everything a go at least once. Something I haven’t done yet was drive an ATV. I know my way around an SUV, a dune buggy, or even a snowmobile (I’m Canadian remember), but surprisingly enough, I’ve never driven an ATV… until yesterday. We explored Aruba’s north coast open air and I learned that I have a new “drive” and it’s called off-road ATVing. I like getting dirty and playing with toys. Give me a field of dirt and a way to truly explore it over make-up and fancy clothes any day. I may not be a “lady” but I know how to have fun.  Continue reading
