I’ve been talking about scuba diving for the entirety of Bucket List Publications. It was on my first bucket list when I created the site and it remained on the list year after year. The fear consumed me and took over. Failure after failure, I thought I’d never actually accomplish that one check mark. I tried and had a panic attack. I tried again and still couldn’t get over it. Well, hell yes! I finally went scuba diving and it was in one of the most beautiful places in the world – Hawaii. Thanks to Aqua Zone Scuba Diving and Snorkeling Center, I can finally say I crossed scuba diving off my list for the first time and I can guarantee it won’t be the last. Continue reading

My Cage Diving Adventure with Islander Charters Begins
Tomorrow, I will embark on a cage diving adventure with Islander Charters. I’ve always been adventurous but marine life has been my greatest fear. Even small, harmless fish have made me nervous about being in the water. I’ve come a long way since my days of running from minnows. I’ve had encounters with dolphins, beluga whales, whale sharks, Galapagos sharks, manta rays, sting rays, seals, and reef sharks but nothing has compared to this. I’m about to face my fears head on. Follow Along as I Discover Dominica
Dominica is one of the few countries left in the Caribbean that I haven’t visited. It’s a hiker’s paradise with adventure, beauty, nature, and culture abound. Starting Wednesday, I will discover this unspoiled destination. My trip will include hiking Sari Sari Falls and Trafalgar Falls. I’ll canyon, dive, snorkel, and relax on the beach. I’ll swim at Bubble Beach Spa and Champagne Reef and enjoy a whale watching excursion. You know when I visit a new place, I’m all in. My packed schedule will introduce me to the best of Dominica and I’ll be sure to share it all with you. Continue reading

5 Amazing Underwater Encounters
Every time I have an underwater encounter, it’s a magical experience. It’s essentially diving into a different world filled with incredible sights and animals. I’m scared; no that’s an understatement. I’m petrified. I know so little about the dangers and beauties of the ocean. Although it has always been a huge part of my life, I fear what could kill me, bite me, or I guess even swim near me. Not all fears are rational, but that doesn’t make them go away. It’s this feeling of uncertainty and discovery that draws me back time and time again to the ocean. Over the last two years, I’ve had five remarkable underwater encounters including swimming with schools of fish, dolphins, beluga whales, whale sharks, and manta rays. Each encounter was uniquely amazing and life-changing. Each encounter has given me a new perspective and encouragement to continue learning about the magical world underwater. Continue reading
Suunto’s D6i – My Scuba Diving Best Friend
Scuba diving to me was one of those things like a back burner on a stove left on high. I was always busy trying new things, seeing new places, and having great experiences, but scuba diving was always in my peripheral vision, constantly teasing me and stating, “hey … over here … you know you want to try me … sooner or later you’re going to have to face me … what are you waiting for?” Continue reading
