Batik Family Painting at JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa

Batik Painting at JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa

We’re very active when we travel. We like to try as many new things as possible but it can be difficult to find an activity that the whole family can enjoy. Today, at JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa, we tried Batik Family Painting and we can’t stop talking about how much fun it was and how proud we are of our painting. With Batik painting, you don’t have to be a skilled painter or have any experience at all to create a beautiful keepsake from your trip. It’s the perfect family activity.  Continue reading

Lion Country Safari is Wild for the Entire Family

Dressed for Lion Country Safari, Palm Beach

Have you ever been to Lion Country Safari in Palm Beach, Florida? It’s jam packed with unbelievably fun things to do for children and adults. It’s a drive-through safari with hundreds of animals, but it also offers animal displays and encounters, animal feeding experiences, amusement park rides, a water playground, boat tours and dining.  It was the best of all of our favorite family-friendly parks combined into one destination.  Continue reading

Treated Like Royalty in Palm Beach, Florida

Sipping tea and the Chesterfield Tea PartyWe did so many family-fun things today in Palm Beach, Florida that I don’t even know where to begin, but one activity was so fantastic that I find myself typing on my phone in the bathroom of the hotel while Athena sleeps peacefully in the bedroom. The Chesterfield Hotel offers a Little Prince and Princess Tea Party and we felt like royalty when we attended today.  Continue reading

Athena’s First Camping Experience

oTENTik in Fundy National ParkOne of the items on this year’s bucket list was to take Athena camping. I’m embarrassed to say that she’s never been before, especially since I loved camping as a child and it’s one of my earliest memories. We wanted her first overnight camping experience to be in eastern Canada so it would be similar to what I remembered as a child. We packed our bags and made our way to Fundy National Park in New Brunswick to experience camping like never before for all of us. Continue reading

Horseback Riding at Broadleaf Guest Ranch, New Brunswick

Broadleaf Guest Ranch

Last year, I took Athena to Alisal Guest Ranch in Solvang, California and she had one of the best days of her life riding a small horse around the corral. She talked about it for months. When I heard that Broadleaf Guest Ranch in Riverside-Albert, New Brunswick offers trail rides for children Athena’s age as long as they are accompanied by an adult, it was the first thing I added to my list for this visit. Broadleaf Guest Ranch is an 1100 acre, family owned and operated adventure business located in Albert County, New Brunswick, in the heart of the Bay of Fundy. They have been in business for more than 50 years and 3 generations. Their experience made me feel comfortable about booking with Athena at such a young age. She was even happier with the experience than I anticipated. The smile on her face during the entire ride was magical.  Continue reading

New Brunswick’s Parlee Beach Is Perfect for Kids

Parlee Beach, New Brunswick

We spent the day at Parlee Beach in Shediac, New Brunswick and it was Athena’s idea of a dream beach. It offers a playground, soft sand, warm, shallow waters, life guards and bathrooms. Athena and I will be spending most of our three-week New Brunswick vacation at Parlee Beach because it doesn’t get any better than this.  Continue reading

Hippos, Elephants, Buffalo & More on the Kazinga Channel

Hippos in Queen Elizabeth National Park

When I planned my trip to Uganda with Africa Adventure Safaris, I was so excited about the gorilla trek that I didn’t spend much time thinking about all of the other amazing adventures I was about to experience. That all changed when I arrived. The first full day in Uganda was spent trekking chimpanzees. The next day I was on a boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth National Park searching for hippos, elephants, crocodiles, buffalo, and birds. It was a whirlwind of one unbelievable, new experience after another. Although I’ve been on a safari before, I never saw hippos in the wild and it was on this year’s list. The actual experience was far greater than I imagined.  Continue reading

The Toddler Bucket List – LEGOLAND California

Playing at LEGOLAND Water Park

LEGOLAND California was the last major amusement park left for us to visit in Southern California. We visited Disneyland, Adventure City, San Diego Zoo, San Diego Safari Park, Knott’s Berry Farm, and The New Children’s Museum but LEGOLAND reminded on the top of Athena’s bucket list. With more than 30,000 LEGO models created out of more than 60 million LEGO bricks, over 60 family rides (including 3 roller coasters), “hands-on” attractions, shows, a water park, and an aquarium, LEGOLAND California provides education, adventure, and fun for all ages. She must have seen a commercial or an ad somewhere that showed LEGOLAND’s Water Park because it’s all she talked about for the last two months and when we finally arrived, it didn’t disappoint. Gliding down a water slide was everything she’d hoped for and more.  Continue reading

Lazy Days at San Diego Zoo

Athena at San Diego Zoo

Visiting San Diego Zoo can be a completely full day of walking and exploring. After spending 6 hours there yesterday, we’re having a lazy Monday. Rather than working, Athena and I are spending the afternoon at the pool. The zoo animals, like my little monkey, often get tired in the afternoon as well. Some of our favorite photos were of the new babies catching a ride with their moms or relaxing with their family. Which ones make you say, “Awwww”?  Continue reading
