Act 3 at Laguna Playhouse

ACT 3 at Laguna Playhouse

I recently discovered Laguna Playhouse. I don’t know why it took me so long to find this gem. I love theatre, especially musicals and plays and it’s a short 7 minute drive from door to door. Last night I went to the US premiere of Act 3 staring Rita Rudner and Charles Shaughnessy. I had never seen Rita Rudner perform before, although she’s been in over 3,000 solo shows in Vegas, but I loved Charles Shuaghnessy from The Nanny. Even though he’s quite a bit older than me, I always had a crush on him. His handsome looks draw a wide audience of women. It was no different last night at the playhouse.  Continue reading

It’s A Snow White Christmas at Laguna Playhouse

A Snow White Christmas

We’ve been making our holiday entertainment rounds since returning from Thailand and tonight was Athena’s most interactive experience. We went to A Snow White Christmas at Laguna Playhouse in Laguna Beach and Athena was clapping and singing near her seat the entire night. A Snow White Christmas is a musical show based on the fairytale with pop culture references thrown in. It’s an interactive production where audience participation, including that of children, is strongly encouraged. The show encourages children and adults to interact with the performers and the adults get the pop culture references and subtle jokes. While there was very little reference to Christmas, as the name implies, we were clapping, yelling and laughing from our seats all evening.

The Hit of the Beach – Ladder Golf

The night before we left California, we wanted to spend one last evening on Laguna Beach and what better way to enjoy the evening than playing beach games. We chose Ladder Golf since it’s our favorite beach game and it was a huge hit. Everyone that walked by either stopped to watch us play or ask us where we bought the game.  Continue reading

Ignorance is Bliss – Snorkeling in Laguna Beach

Laguna Beach – known internationally as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. With dolphins diving within view, sun caressing the sand and making the ocean sparkle, and perfect waves for surfing or boogie boarding, what’s not to love? The beauty is all encompassing, creating a burning desire to explore it more. The idea of snorkeling through  such perfection was flawless. I imagined viewing colorful, tropical fish, coral, and new sea creatures. I grabbed my Promate snorkel gear and set out toward the water. Continue reading

An Art-A-Fair – Hot Out of the Kiln!

This year, the Sawdust Art Festival, in collaboration with Laguna Beach Visitors & Conference Bureau, added some exciting new classes to the Sawdust Studio Art Classes’ schedule. The year-round art education program is now offering all-new special classes in glass, fused glass, jewelry, and ceramics. On Saturday, January 21st, I designed and constructed a colorful and uniquely shaped “Origami Bowl”, great for dips, salads, or display, during the Fused Glass Class at the Sawdust Arts Festival. Taught by local artisan, Maggie Spencer, I soon discovered the art of fusing glass. Continue reading

While the Rest of the World Moves at a Frantic Pace, Sunset Cove Villas Cultivates an Air of Unhurried Leisure and Tranquility

Laguna Beach, and the surrounding Orange County areas, is the reason my husband and I moved across the continent. There are quaint shops, delicious restaurants, art galleries, beachfront beauty, year-round sunshine, and friendly people that remind me of eastern Canada. Sunset Cove Villas, located directly on the beach and minutes from the heart of downtown, are ideally situated to take full advantage of these benefits. Rising directly above Laguna Beach’s dramatic coastline, one of the most desirable beaches on the California coast,  Sunset Cove Villas face the majestic beauty of the Pacific Ocean, creating a picturesque setting and romantic atmosphere. The crashing waves, white sand, spectacular sunsets, and gentle breezes make a stay at Sunset Cove Villas priceless. What nature has not graciously provided, the owners of Sunset Cove Villas have; luxury, ample amenities, and attention to every detail are all part of the Villa experience at Sunset Cove. I’ve stayed in hotels in 33 countries and countless cities, but none have compared to the 180 degree view of the ocean I experienced while waking up at Sunset Cove Villas. With a balcony on the water and access to the ocean just footsteps away, our Seychelles Villa was the kind of oceanside experience I’d associated with Southern California living, but had yet to attain. I finally soaked up the chance to spend some time living my California dream. Continue reading
