I asked Athena, “What do you want to do most today?” “I want to ride the train,” she replied just as quickly as I’d asked. It’s been her favorite thing to do. She loves the entire process including getting tickets, riding the elevator, waiting on the platform, listening to the conductor blow the whistle, picking a seat, giving her ticket to the conductor, and watching everything pass by out the window. It’s all like going to an amusement park and I get to experience it with her rather than driving myself. The public transportation system is definitely toddler and parent approved. Continue reading
When I say that I’ve tried every extreme adventure I can image, it’s not true. There are still several adrenaline-pumping exploits I dream about experiencing. They are on my life bucket list but I haven’t put them on my yearly list… yet. Do you have a lot of nerve? Include a few of these on your list and let’s see what you’ve got. Life is worth living.
Looking at a huge list of items to accomplish can be overwhelming, but by the end of August, I will have completed all 50 items on my 2014 bucket list. What has this taught me? Creating a completely unrealistic list of items you want to accomplish is a fantastic idea and the best way to make your dreams a reality. If you can dream it and write it down, it becomes tangible even if it is utterly insane. Here’s an update on this year’s list. The blue items are clickable and already complete.
Every view in every direction was stunning. From lush mountain ranges to turquoise waters, the US Virgin Islands are picture perfect. Each of the three major islands has a unique character all its own. Fortunately, I was able to explore both St. Thomas and St. John during my 5 day vacation. I’ll have to make another trip back to experience St. Croix but the vistas on St. Thomas and St. John left me awe-struck and wanting more. Here are my favorite USVI views. Continue reading

The last day of my Etosha National Park safari was about to begin and while everyone else was hoping to see lion cubs, I was secretly wishing for more giraffes. They are my favorite animal. Awkward yet graceful, shy yet funny, beautiful in their own way, I feel I can relate to them the most. When I’m introduced to someone or something new, I’m embarrassed, nervous, anxious. It’s only when I’ve been around them for awhile that I’m comfortable and myself. I wish I could say I was more like a proud, strong, stoic lion, but I’m the giraffe hiding behind the tree. After 2 years of extensive travel around the world, I’ve chosen my five favorite luxury resorts. These establishments stand apart for their personalized approaches, creativity, extraordinary physical attributes, impeccable standards of excellence, and extensive amenities. They are the ultimate in luxury and sophistication. I’ve only included resorts that I’ve visited in the last two years.
