Playing in the water, whether it be the ocean, a lake, or a pool, has been a staple in my family’s life. We’ve surrounded ourselves with it and made the best memories of our life in it. My oldest brother, Marshall, owns a pool and a regular afternoon was transformed into a day of laughter and fun by taking advantage of the pool and our love of water.

Namasté Sara! You Can Cross Spa Day off your Bucket List
Everyone has a different version of what they’d like to accomplish, try, or experience in their life. While I enjoy extreme adventures, sports, outdoor activities and anything to do with the ocean, others like retreats, relaxing, and finding peace of mind. Sara of New Brunswick, Canada had “spend a day at the spa” as her number one bucket list item. As soon as I read her list, I knew there was at least one thing I could arrange for her. With the support of Namaste Spa, Bucket List Publications helped Sara cross an item off of her list. Continue reading
Top 5 Extreme Adventures – #5 Spelunking/Caving
In the last few years, I’ve participated in the most extreme adventures that I could imagine. Even my wedding day included a little bit of rock climbing and a trip up the trapeze ladder to swing my way into married life. You may have a different opinion of what constitutes an extreme adventure, but I’ve narrowed it down to my top 5 extreme adventures based on sheer fear, nervousness, excitement, and potential to crap my own pants.
Trapped in the number five spot is caving or spelunking!
Imagine a world of darkness surrounded by rock and mud where exotic formations, streams and waterfalls, tight crawl-ways, deep canyons and pits, and huge rooms with large blocks of breakdown, crickets, bats, and rats await you. That’s what I experienced while caving in New Brunswick, Canada. I was taken into a world much different from that above ground and the potential for being trapped in complete darkness where unfamiliar things lurked brought shivers up my spine, finding its way into my top five adventure. 3 First (Worst) Teaching Days – #1 – Riverview, NB – If I Could Only Make it There
3 First (Worst) Teaching Days
As a teacher for over 8 years and in various schools around the country, my journey was filled with happiness, laughter, fear, nervousness and countless other emotions, often at the same time. Students have a unique way of touching your heart, driving you completely insane, and making you proud all at once. The first day of the school year can often set the tone for the entire year. It can be a stressful day naturally, but when you add a first day curse things can get out of hand. I’ve experienced the craziest first days during my career; including no heat over night in -50 degrees, going to the hospital with a concussion, and not making it to work because of a freak storm disaster. They are powerful enough to make you question entering the teaching profession altogether. Follow me on my first days of disaster and teaching.
#1 – Riverview, New Brunswick – If I Could Only Make it There
I moved, or attempted to move, to Moncton, New Brunswick from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on November 20, 2008 to start a teaching position at Riverview High School. My job officially started the next day and I played out a thousand first day scenarios. I wanted to finally have a great first day teaching and I thought with years of experience and a history of not so great first day I could finally have a change of luck. With only what I could fit in the car, I began my journey alone. It was early in the winter season and I didn’t worry about the weather or the road conditions, but that was a mistake that I will not make so easily again. Continue reading

Sail Away with Me
When Darren and I first met, he was the proud owner of a Tanzer 26 sailboat. It was old and a little run down with malfunctioning gear and the occasional leak (or what most people would call a flood), but I loved everything about it! I’d never been on a sailboat before, but being the granddaughter of a lobster fisherman, I longed to be on the ocean and emerged in the salty air. The first time we set sail, we were alone and Darren needed a first mate. He was an experienced sailor but required an extra hand with leaving the pier, tacking, docking, and general support. I felt up to the challenge and anticipated the journey. Good communication and excellent teaching abilities made Darren the perfect captain, but maybe it wasn’t me that needed the lesson 😉 Continue reading
