Celebrating One Year in Southern California

It’s been a year since we moved back to California. Our anniversary is this month. We could have chosen anywhere in the world to live and southern California was our first choice. We’re often asked if we’ll ever return home, to eastern Canada, but our answer is consistently the same – this is our home now. SoCal has so much to offer. Its beauty is undeniable and the opportunities are even more prevalent. I love to travel and it will always be as much a part of me as family and friends but it’s never discouraging to return home. As an anniversary celebration to California, I attended The American Ballet Theatre’s world premiere of The Sleeping Beauty. The world is at our doorstep in California; living in Orange County is like awaking from a long sleep and opening my eyes to a handsome dream prince and a castle of possibilities. Feast on a New Sleeping Beauty

Stephanie Meyer fans watch out; there are other undead in town and these ones have klout. Matthew Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty, which made its North Carolina debut at Belk Theater, is edgy, entertaining, visually stunning, and modern with a vampire twist. It has depth, drama, and a ton of smoking hot vampires. If that isn’t enough draw, it’s the classic story of Sleeping Beauty. Known and loved by all, there is no guess work with this ballet. I was able to sit back, relax, and soak up the eye-candy in Bourne’s reinvention of the classic Tchaikovsky ballet. Continue reading

Winner of the Two Free Tickets to Sleeping Beauty in Irvine, CA

The winner of the two free tickets to The Sleeping Beauty at the Irvine Barclay Theatre,  4242 Campus Drive in Irvine, California, is Christina Fan. She and her 7 year old daughter will enjoy the upcoming performance by the Festival Ballet Theatre.

Festival Ballet Theatre’s heart-warming production of Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece brings to life fabled storybook favorites Princess Aurora, Puss ‘n Boots, Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf…characters that remind us that good always triumphs over evil.
