After months of planning and careful consideration, our big move back to the US has arrived. We bought a house in Frisco, Texas. A lot of people asked why Frisco? We’ve traveled around the world and lived in many different places. We made Montreal our home out of necessity, not desire, and we wanted to consciously choose the best place for us as a family. Frisco is constantly rated one of the best places in the US to live for families with top schools in the country. Couple that with more than 250 days a year of sunshine and a remarkable cost of living and Frisco kept coming up on the top of our list. Our daily life has already been greatly enhanced in Frisco with easy access to entertainment, theater, arts, sports, and dining. Our beautiful home is large enough to host guests and the backyard is the private oasis of my dreams. There is an international airport 30 minutes away and there are endless road trip opportunities. We’re loving the transition. Continue reading

All Faired Up – BBVA Rising Stars Challenge
Last night, at the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge, Team Chuck won in a 163-135 victory over Team Shaq. Every time Kenneth Faried of the Denver nuggets touched the ball, he got a basket. 40 points in 40 minutes, along with 10 rebounds, made him worthy of the MVP Award in the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge! It didn’t take floor seats to see that Faried is a “rising star”, but there was more to the evening than rising stars and sinking baskets. The Little Dippers, the Kiss Cam, the Dance Cam, the Rockets Power Dancers, the Mascots, the announcers, the cameramen, and the energy in the crowd all came together to create the magical event that I envisioned. One More Day Til the NBA
One of my first memories in life was watching my brother, Marshall, dribble a basketball. I was maybe three years old, my brother maybe five, and my grandfather set up a basketball net in his driveway. I couldn’t dribble so I bounced the huge ball with both of my hands. It was massive, bigger than my head, and I had no idea how people actually held it in one hand. I looked up to my brother and was in awe of his master talents. He could actually dribble the ball with one hand and he was strong enough to shoot it at the net. He was going to be in the NBA and I was going to be his biggest competition. Until then, I would watch his every move and learn from the best. That’s what big brothers are for, right? Continue reading
Childhood Dreams Made Reality: Can You Say “All-Star”!
One of my favorite memories as a child was watching the NBA All-Star Weekend with my
grandfather and my brother. Spud Webb’s Slam Dunk victory over Wilkins making him the shortest player ever to win the contest, Michael Jordan’s perfect 50 dunk from the free-throw line, and Isiah Thomas’s 30 point game will forever be etched in my brain as inspirational and unforgettable memories in my life. It’s moments like these that remind you that greatest is possible. I still remember saying, “Imagine actually getting to see this in person”, as my brother and I watched in awe. We all know that I’m not one to stop at “imagine” and next weekend one of my childhood dreams might actually come true. Yes, readers, I’m planning to attend NBA All-Star 2013. Continue reading
